Amazing information about butterflies and moths!

On one of our earlier posts someone asked us what were the differences between moths and butterflies.

We challenged ourselves to find the answers to that question.

Tor found out that:

Butterflies fly during the day.
Moths fly at night.

Moths are usually brown or grey.
Butterflies can be lots of different colours.

Moth have feathered antennae
Butterflies have stalk antennae.

Tor found his information from his brother.

Regan found out that:

Butterflies have slender hairless bodies.
Moths have fat and furry bodies.

Regan found his information on the internet.

Alex found out that:
Butterflies have more colour and moths don't.
Butterflies fly in the day and moths fly at night.
Butterflies are skinny and moths are fat.

Alex found his information on his Dad's iPad.

We wrote this post together as a class at oral language time.

  1. Great work Explorers! Thank you for taking on my challenge! I have now learned more about the differences between butterflies and moths.. thank you. But I do have to confess that I personally still like butterflies better!! Moths always seem to want to annoy me and fly round about my ears!!
