Canterbury Earthquake

To all our blogging friends who are worried about us here in Canterbury,

We are fortunate out here in Springston to have suffered minimal damage this time round.
We will be returning to school Tuesday 1st of March because our classrooms are safe and we have water and power.

We realise how lucky we are and that there are people much less fortunate.

We encourage you to support schools and the people of Christchurch that have suffered damage and loss.

It's Zoo Week for the Springston Explorers!

At reading time this week we will be exploring videos of animals that live in Zoo's.

These videos are of giraffes from Youtube. The children will be watching these at reading time to help them get inspired in their reading, writing and creating.

Super Suzy shared her Super Hero secrets with us!

Multiplication Madness!

At our goal setting interviews on the first day of school there were lots of children who said they wanted to learn their multiplication facts this year.

I have found a great activity on a great maths website that will help us to learn our times tables.

What did Nanas get up to with our first Super Star?

Joshua was the first Super Star of 2011 because he was so switched on to learning on our first day of school. He was the first lucky child to take Nanas home for the night. He wrote in Nanas book and read his writing to the class. Watch the video to find out what they got up to!

We have had a great first day back at school! We had lots of fun trying out the new furniture and we are getting used to the idea of not having to sit in the same place all the time.
