Check out our WILD selves!

We are at the Stepping out stage of our inquiry. While Mrs Watson was working with the giraffe group, the Rhino group looked up facts about the White Rhino and had fun making their Wild Selves!

Kaylee's special fotobabble

Kaylee's reading group have been thinking about special people or animals in our lives because we are reading a book about a boy who is feeling sad because his dog died. He finds that it helps him to feel better by talking about his dog and remembering happy or funny times.

Challenge: What was Kaylee's horse's name?

How many people do you think have used our Home Learning Page this week?

I was looking at the blog statistics page and was impressed to see that 9 children have used the Home Learning page this week. I wonder if we can double that by the end of the week?

The Home Learning Page has lots of great games and links to websites that you can use to practice your literacy and numeracy.

Can you guess what animal group these children learned about?

Sadly we were unable to go to Orana Park on Thursday so we had an action packed day at school. Each teacher taught the children about an animal group.
Look at the pictures children drew on the iPads. Can you guess which group they learned about?

Birds? Reptiles? Mammals? Amphibians? Fish?

Our Lovely Autumn Writing

My favourite learning we have done so far is our writing - we have delved into the world of poetry and what a fun time! First we started with exploring language, which gave the children opportunities to engage their senses through different items such as bubblewrap and playdough.

Here are some groups writing their ideas down...

I love the way that they are all engaged in using their senses and in the activity. It was an amazing way to get some rich language and similes from them and they didn't even know they were coming up with such amazing ideas!

Once we did a bunch of 'explore' type sessions, we moved onto the writing. This came easily because of all our fantastic work in the beginning. Of course then we published and made them all pretty with Autumn colours using dye (The children take great delight in saying things like 'Can I dye now?', and 'Miss BT, I dyed, but I'm still alive'!).

Here's some of our published Haiku poems..

I can't wait to get the leaves up...and show you how we display them! Keep tuned for that in the next week or pop into the class to see the lovely writing...

Lachie sent Mrs Watson an email with this photo.

Lachie said he went out with his dad duck shooting and they shot 2 ducks.
Lachie said that the gun was loud but he had lots of fun.

Do you have any questions for Lachie about duck shooting?
